July at the Australia Pavilion

This July, the Australia Pavilion at World Expo 2025 Osaka comes alive with an eclectic mix of music, theatre, science, food, and family fun. Whether you’re after cutting-edge performances, hands-on creativity, or prehistoric puppetry, there’s something here for everyone. Join us on the Forecourt Stage for a month bursting with artistic expression and Aussie charm.

Musical Moments

Brisbane Brass Band kicks things off with their vibrant, community-driven performances (1–3 July). With a proud 40-year history, this ensemble blends musical excellence with joyful community spirit, delighting audiences young and old.

Hannah Macklin brings a soulful, genre-bending sound to the stage with nightly performances (1–10 July). Drawing on jazz, R&B, and world influences, Hannah’s rich vocals and innovative compositions will transport you to another world.

From mid-month, the Australian Art Orchestra takes centre stage (11–20 July), pushing musical boundaries with genre-crossing collaborations and First Nations storytelling. Don't miss iconic Australian and First Nations singer-songwriter Kutcha Edwards, whose powerful voice and poignant stories reflect his deep connection to culture and Country.

Later in the month, ALISA (21–27 July) brings her emotionally charged, pop-infused performances to Osaka. Known for her work on Netflix’s Carole and Tuesday, ALISA will perform original songs and tributes to iconic Australian artists.

Simon Hudson (24 July) also makes a special appearance - weaving roots, folk, and global rhythms into an uplifting musical journey.

Dinosaurs, Science and Play

ERTH’s Dinosaur Zoo invites visitors to come face-to-face with life-sized prehistoric puppets

ERTH’s Dinosaur Zoo (3–13 July) invites visitors to come face-to-face with life-sized prehistoric puppets. With wit, wonder, and Aussie humour, these interactive performances will delight dino lovers of all ages.

For younger visitors and families, Polyglot Theatre’s Paper Planet (17–27 July) transforms the Australia Pavilion forecourt into a whimsical cardboard forest. Children are invited to create, explore, and play in this participatory, ever-evolving art installation, presented with Japanese partner Acchi Cocchi.

Science lovers can get hands-on with the Questacon Science Circus (18–22 July), offering mind-bending experiments and demonstrations that blend education with entertainment.

Food, Culture and Special Events

Foodies with a sweet tooth are in for a treat with appearances by chocolatier Yuki Nakamura (15 July) and acclaimed pastry chef and chocolatier Kirsten Tibballs (16–20 July). 

Discover the story behind Nakamura Chocolates in a discussion and Q&A session with Yuki Nakamura, executive director of Nakamura Chocolates and Australia-Japan Foundation board member. Kirsten, known as Australia’s “Chocolate Queen,” brings her internationally renowned chocolate and patisserie skills to the pavilion with live demonstrations.

Later in the month, Meat & Livestock Australia (27–30 July) return with the popular showcase of Australia’s culinary exports with engaging cooking demos and tastings.

Cultural highlights include the Canberra-Nara Sister City Commemorative Event presented by ACT Government (3 July), celebrating more than three decades of friendship between Australia and Japan.
