
The Australia Pavilion is bringing audiences together this week with a rich mix of live music, real-life adventure stories, and culinary demonstrations celebrating Australia’s diverse talents and culture.
Here's what you can expect on the cultural precinct stage from 5 to 10 May.
Live Music on the cultural precinct stage
Music takes centre stage across the week with performances from some of Australia’s most distinctive and dynamic artists.
LIOR
Evening Performances (6:00 PM - 9:30 PM, Mon-Sat)
Celebrated for his emotive voice and songwriting, Lior will perform nightly at the pavilion. Since his 2005 breakout album Autumn Flow, which became one of the most successful independent debut releases in Australian music history, Lior has earned seven ARIA nominations and two wins.

His music spans folk, classical and world genres, and his acclaimed collaboration Compassion, a symphonic work based on ancient texts, won the ARIA Award for Best Classical Album. With past performances at arts and WOMAD festivals globally, including the Edinburgh Festival and with the Australian Chamber Orchestra, Lior brings a refined musical presence to World Expo 2025 Osaka.
Belle Roscoe
Times TBC
Siblings Julia and Matty Gurry front Belle Roscoe, whose sound blends indie rock, blues and cinematic energy. Currently based in London, the band has recorded with Grammy-winning producer Matt Ross-Spang and members of The Alabama Shakes and Jason Isbell’s 400 Unit. Described as sitting somewhere between Fleetwood Mac and The Black Keys, Belle Roscoe's performances will showcase their latest album, Talking to the Walrus.
Jake Murdoch
Midday Sets (Friday & Saturday)
At just 16 years old, Jake Murdoch is a multi-hyphenate singer, award-winning songwriter, and instrumentalist. Playing an incredible 16 instruments, Jake can also speak ten languages. He has performed live on Australian television, collaborated with INXS legend Andrew Farriss, and appeared at national festivals and cultural events. Catch his midday performances for an uplifting showcase of young Australian talent.
Maritime Spirit – stories of challenge and endurance
Step into the world of long-distance ocean racing as we spotlight one of Australia’s great sporting journeys. This session brings personal insight into the determination, teamwork, and resilience it takes to cross the Pacific in a two-handed yacht race.
Sports panel: Melbourne to Osaka Yacht Race
Monday 5 May, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Join Annette Hesselmans and Sophie Snijders, a mother-and-daughter sailing team, as they reflect on their journey in the Melbourne to Osaka Yacht Race, a 5,500 nautical mile test of endurance and determination. Fresh from the race's award ceremony on 2 May, they will speak about navigating long ocean stretches, the dynamics of sailing as family, and the challenges and rewards of offshore racing. A Taste of Australia – live cooking with Aussie Beef
Australian food culture takes the spotlight in a series of live cooking demonstrations that celebrate flavour, quality and culinary skill. These sessions bring together premium ingredients and practical know-how, offering visitors a hands-on taste of Australia’s agricultural and gastronomic values.
Cooking with Aussie Beef - Live Demonstrations with Japanese chef Hulk Kato
Thursday & Friday, 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM and 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM, cultural precinct stage
Discover the flavour and finesse of Australian beef in live cooking demonstrations hosted by Australia Pavilion partner, Meat & Livestock Australia. Japanese chef and Aussie Beef Mate Hiroki ‘Hulk’ Kato will guide audiences through the steps to creating perfectly cooked steak at home, sharing his go-to techniques, flavour tips, and advice on selecting premium cuts.
These interactive sessions offer a deeper look into Australia’s food values, highlighting the country’s commitment to quality, sustainability, and culinary excellence. Whether you're a home cook or a food enthusiast, it's a chance to learn, taste, and connect with one of Australia’s signature ingredients.
Family time - Bluey and friends at the pavilion

Australia’s favourite blue heeler pup is taking centre stage at the pavilion this week, with daily screenings of Bluey in Japanese during Bluey o’clock, held twice daily on the cultural precinct stage.
Throughout the week, look for Koko the Koala and Ruby the Roo, who will appear around the pavilion every day to say hello and share the fun.
