Australia Pavilion bursts into life with music, science and stellar encounters

A family at the Australia Pavilion

The Australia Pavilion at World Expo 2025 Osaka is set to be a hub of culture, family fun and inspiring stories this May, with a dynamic program of performances, hands-on science, and appearances from some of Australia’s brightest stars.

Live music to stir the soul

Audiences will be treated to an exceptional line-up of musical performances showcasing the depth and diversity of Australia’s contemporary music scene. Acclaimed singer-songwriter Lior brings his soaring voice and heartfelt storytelling to the stage, weaving melodies that speak to shared human experiences.

Joining him is Joel Havea, whose soulful fusion of roots, reggae and blues, shaped by his Tongan and Dutch heritage and Melbourne upbringing, promises to captivate international audiences. Together, these artists offer a rich musical journey that reflects Australia’s multicultural spirit.

Science comes alive with Questacon

From 17–21 May, Questacon will transform the cultural precinct with its renowned Science Circus. Designed for kids and families, the Science Circus is a thrilling blend of silly, smart and spectacular. With a focus on interactive learning and laughter, the team brings science to life through fun, hands-on experiments and explosive demonstrations. While rooted in their mission to inspire Australian children, the Questacon team brings this same passion to their Japanese audiences - sparking curiosity and imagination across cultures.

At its core, Questacon aims to ignite a lifelong interest in science and technology, helping young people develop the skills and curiosity needed to thrive in an increasingly complex world. Their shows not only entertain but empower families and children with the knowledge that science is for everyone – and it’s a lot of fun too!

Meet Australia’s first astronaut

In an out-of-this-world experience, the pavilion will welcome Katherine Bennell-Pegg, Australia’s first astronaut on 23 and 24 May. From childhood dreams of going to space, to becoming the first international astronaut candidate to train with the European Space Agency, Katherine’s journey is one of determination, trailblazing spirit and unshakeable ambition. Visitors will have the rare opportunity to hear her story live from the cultural precinct stage and discover what it takes to reach for the stars.

A taste of home with celebrity chef Adrian Richardson

Bringing flavour to the festivities, renowned Australian chef and TV personality Adrian Richardson will serve up a delicious slice of homegrown hospitality from 23 to 27 May. Best known for his appearances on Good Chef Bad Chef and Boys Weekend, Richardson’s love of simple, honest food is matched by his enthusiasm for sharing it. As the owner of Melbourne’s La Luna Bistro and Bouvier Bar, he champions local produce and bold flavours - a perfect ambassador for Australia’s culinary scene.
